This course is designed to provide the new fire investigator with the prerequisite knowledge necessary to determine the origin and cause of a fire properly and to refresh the experienced fire investigator with his/her current knowledge base as it relates to the scientific investigation of a fire scene. This course provides the basis for the IAAI Fire Investigation Technician certification.
The following CFITrainer.Net® modules are course Prerequisites:
• The Scientific Method for Fire and Explosion Investigation
• Understanding Fire Through the Candle Experiments
• Fire Investigator Scene Safety
NOTE: This offering requires 30 registered participants prior to May 1st, or the class offering will be cancelled by the IAAI (registration fees will be refunded) The maximum class size is 50 participants.

REGISTRATION for this course involves a “2-step” process.

Before registering, ensure you have completed the required CFITrainer.Net® modules.
Step 1. IAAI registration:
Register for the class (by May 1st) with the IAAI online at Fundamentals of Fire Investigation (firearson.com)
IAAI Registration: $540.00 USD (IAAI –Member Registration) $810.00 USD (Non-Member Registration)
IMPORTANT: To ensure your seat is reserved for this training, you MUST NOW complete Step 2 of the registration process.

Step 2. FIAA registration:
To reserve your seat for the class, complete the FIAA Fundamentals of Fire Investigation registration and
pay the administration fee online at www.fiaa.ca Registration Deadline: May 1, 2024
FIAA Registration: $575.00 (CAD) (FIAA–Member Registration) $750.00 (CAD) (Non-Member Registration)

The FIAA will provide morning coffee, snacks, and lunch each day.

Following Day 3 of the workshop, from 17:15 – 20:00, join your FIAA hosts in the Executive Suite on the 5th Floor for a Meet and Greet. Enjoy visiting with old friends and making some new connections.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
